Each year, we’ve traditionally purchased Christmas cards—either directly from charities or from suppliers who donate a portion of their proceeds to good causes. However, with postage costs steadily increasing, we’ve decided to send our Christmas greetings by email instead. This change allows us to donate the full amount we would have spent on cards and stamps directly to charity—ensuring they receive greater support than through traditional mail.

The application had several requirements, with the primary focus on ensuring that the emails felt personal and avoided coming across as just another generic mass mailshot.

To achieve this we wanted the following:

• A personalised heading
• An image
• A personalised sign-off message
• A 'signature' that could be varied. e.g. Chris or Chris & Jo
• Space for an additional message for that particular recipient
